Centre Henri Pousseur, 50 years of electronic music

Since the 1970s, the Henri Pousseur Centre has played an important role in new electronic music in Belgium. At the beginning of this year, a new album was released with a selection of works from the last 50 years, including ‘(Paysage en attente…)’ by Daan Janssens. This work for two pianos and electronics offers a multisided perspective of the phenomenon of resonance: including the literal resonance of strings and live recordings and the more metaphoric resonance of their own, as well as historic repertoire. Both ‘La rueda’ and ‘Traces VIII’ are characterized by the idea of transformation, which serves as a consistent element throughout the work of Martin Matalon. There is the great richness of the performers, with their presence and charisma, virtuosity and experience, while on the other hand, we have the electronic extensions of sound, timbre, space and time.
