This project blurs the boundaries between music, literature, painting, theatre and choreography to create a vibrant and surprising new stage experience.
CHUCHOTEMENTS BURLESQUES is a theatrical show that brings together sound, light, image, words and physical gestures around music. The execution of the work is the result of a process of intense creative collaboration and an artistic quest. Each show is designed in a flexible way and can therefore adapt to different scenic situations.
As part of composer Alireza Farhang’s doctoral research on the graphic representation of sound and music, a hybrid notation was designed to allow artists from different artistic disciplines to establish an intuitive relationship with the reading of the score. The enormous possibilities offered by new technologies give the play a wider dimension than a simple performance of musical theatre. In the composition of CHUCHOTEMENTS BURLESQUES , musical intentions are based on non-musical expressions in which the physical and visual gesture occupies an important place.
Production: HERMESensemble, in collaboration with the Centre Henri Pousseur
