The festival Images Sonores 2020 starts with the presentation of the research project Micro-Percussions, led by Tom De Cock (professor of percussion at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège and percussionist in the Ictus ensemble) in collaboration with the Centre Henri Pousseur, with the support of the FRArt (Fonds de la Recherche en Art).
This research project aims to develop a hybrid micro-percussion device using contact microphones or specially designed amplification tools. Thus, it seeks the possibility of real-time analog and digital electronic processing of the amplified sounds, through the use of analog effect pedals, digital interfaces and digital plugins, which will allow the instrumentalist to expand the possibilities of acoustic and idiomatic playing of the applied instruments.
