Paul Pankert, Quasi Rondo for violin and electronics (new version, world première) *

Christian Klinkenberg, Mother Goose Rhymes – N’Heures Souris Rames – Mörder Guss Reims for voice, video and electronics (world première) *

Malika Kishino, Lebensfunke I for bass drum and electronics (2007-2010) (belgian première)

L’Ensemble 88 presents three creations for solo instrument and electronics. In Quasi Rondo, for violin and electronics, slow melodies, shaped on the voices of the language using a quarter-tone technique are repeated. By their spatial superposition a state of inner peace is created. We also find the process of micro-tonality in Christian Klinkenberg’s creaton for voice and electronics, in which he even superimposes several systems. In Lebensfunke, for bass drum and electronics, the Japanese composer Malika Kishino explores the spectrum of this voluminous percussion instrument, which, in many cultures, expresses a universal vital force.

* * These works are created as part of the project Expanded New Music,
initiated by Centre Henri Pousseur, Ensemble 88 and Klanghaus and
co-financed as part of the EMR People to People Interreg V-A project by
the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
