The programme Flow, my tears is built around the eponymous song by John Dowland (1533-1626), a song that has been very popular throughout the centuries and has been used by various other composers as inspiration for new works. A new member of this family is growing again. The Limburg composer Hans Kockelkoren is writing a work for soprano and electronics that will be premiered at the Vocallis International Festival. In this series of performances, the composer himself plays the Ondioline, a historical instrument from the early years of electronic music. In a sense, therefore, he is engaged in the historical performance practice of contemporary music.
The programme presents 17th century music alongside contemporary music. It will be accompanied by a visual equivalent in the form of double photographic portraits by the Liège artist Sophie Langohr. She juxtaposes photographs of 17th century apostles from the parish church of Eupen with contemporary portraits.
